The Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Course is designed to provide those who are new to the construction industry, who wish to apply for a CSCS, with the skills, knowledge and credentials to work safely and competently in their field.

Each year in the UK, people are killed, injured and suffer work-related illnesses while carrying out their jobs. This course includes essential health and safety information and guidelines, taking a look at UK laws and legislation, as well as the different work-related illnesses and injuries. It covers basic electric, gas and fire safety training, the types of PPE, how to work safely with hazardous chemicals, and other key topics.

By the end of the Level 1 Health and Safety in Construction course, you will be able to accurately assess and identify onsite hazards, evaluate the safety of a workplace, and ensure full competence when carrying out high-risk tasks such as working at height. Module Three: Slips, Trips, Falls and Working at Height

Slips, trips and falls are the most common hazard in the construction industry. In module three, we will take a look at the prevention measures for slips, trips and falls, and fundamental procedures for working safely.

Module Four: Manual handling

In module four, we will explore the procedures for carrying out manual handling tasks safely, including guidance on posture, the health implications of poor manual handling, and manual handling law.

Module Five: Plant, Machinery and Noise

In module five, we will learn about noise pollution at work, machinery safety guidelines and plant safety best practice, with step-by-step training.

Module Six: Respiratory Risks

In module six, we will gain a comprehensive understanding of the risk factors in the construction industry for chronic respiratory diseases.

Module Seven: Fire, Electricity and Gas Safety

In module seven, we will be trained on the principles of fire, electricity and gas safety, taking a look at best practice procedures and key legislation.

Module Eight: Chemicals and Other Onsite Hazards

In module ten, we will take a look at the skills you have gained throughout the course, and the steps to acquiring a CSCS to fast track your career in the construction industry.
